Hunter Bodycott, MS, PMP, and Nick DeHaan, PE, QSD, bring more than 40 years of combined heavy civil construction experience. We understand how projects are bid, planned, built, changed, and documented because we have lived it ourselves. We also understand where projects break down—how incomplete information, shifting scope, access constraints, coordination failures, schedule pressure, and field conditions can compound into major cost and time impacts.
We support attorneys and their clients with claims strategy, damages analysis, quantum development, expert reports, deposition support, testimony, and schedule analysis. Our experience spans Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC, and Progressive Design-Build projects across the United States.
Hunter and Nick have served as experts on construction claims ranging from $1M to more than $500M. Their work has supported more than $500M in successful recoveries and dispute resolutions for clients. Our role is straightforward: understand what happened, build the analysis around the project record, and help counsel present a clear, supportable case.
Hunter Bodycott, MS, PMP
My background spans 20 years of heavy civil construction work, including signature bridges, highway reconstruction, grade separations, rail interfaces, deep foundations, utility relocation, CPM scheduling, cost control, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) negotiation. This experience gives me a practical understanding of how projects are bid, planned, managed, and built—and how project decisions translate into cost and schedule impacts.
I have served as an expert witness, claims lead, corporate representative, Person Most Knowledgeable, and presenter before multiple dispute review boards. I work with counsel and project teams to investigate claims, evaluate damages, develop supportable positions, and prepare matters for negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. I am particularly effective at identifying what materially affected the work, and connecting the project documentation and cost data to what occurred in the field.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Clemson University and a Master of Science in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver. I am a Project Management Professional (PMP) and hold a California Class A General Engineering Contractor License.
Nick DeHaan, PE, QSD
Sr. Disputes Lead
I help owners, contractors, and legal teams resolve complex construction disputes by combining technical engineering knowledge with firsthand experience delivering major infrastructure projects. My work focuses on investigating claims, evaluating damages, and developing clear, supportable positions that stand up to technical and legal scrutiny.
Throughout my career, I have supported disputes exceeding $400M and programs valued at more than $1B. I have served as a claims lead, corporate representative, Person Most Knowledgeable, expert witness, and advisor, preparing expert reports and testimony, performing causation and entitlement analyses, developing quantum and schedule analyses, and supporting negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
My engineering background includes major heavy civil infrastructure projects involving highways, bridges, rail and transit systems, utility infrastructure, CPM scheduling, cost management, change administration, and project controls. This experience allows me to connect project documentation, field conditions, and engineering decisions to the cost and schedule impacts that ultimately shape successful claim resolution.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and am a licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.

I am a construction executive and disputes expert with more than 20 years of heavy civil construction experience. I began my career in the field and advanced through project leadership, managing major infrastructure projects for national contractors before founding Bodycott Engineering.

As Managing Principal of Bodycott Engineering, I work directly with contractors and public agencies on procurements, contract negotiations, preconstruction, and collaborative delivery. I have negotiated contract terms and multiple Guaranteed Maximum Prices, giving me firsthand insight into how risk is allocated and how commercial issues develop.
